In this session, attendees will be provided with an overview of the pharmacology of the most commonly used medications in ob/gyn. For the non-ob/gyn provider, the information presented in the session will help to orient one to these medications and most importantly, to the potential side effects one may encounter in non-ob/gyn settings.

Psychopharmacology Boot Camp

After this session, participants should feel more comfortable with recognizing psychotropic medications and the class in which they belong. In addition, one should be able to predict the most effective treatment for a patient's presentation, symptoms, and/or the psychiatric diagnosis. The participants will also be able to identify those medications that require further diagnostic studies for monitoring purposes.  Lastly, this session will review side effect profiles for some of the most common psychotropic medications, including emergencies that can arise with administering these pharmacologic agents.

Clinical Aspects of Opioids and Appropriate Titration Schedules

After this session, provide an updated review of the opioid epidemic and discuss some of the pitfalls encountered in clinical practice. These include accidental overdose, use of monitoring studies, titrating and tapering opioids appropriately, and incorporating information concerning substance use disorder.
