After this session, participants should feel more comfortable with recognizing psychotropic medications and the class in which they belong. In addition, one should be able to predict the most effective treatment for a patient's presentation, symptoms, and/or the psychiatric diagnosis. The participants will also be able to identify those medications that require further diagnostic studies for monitoring purposes.  Lastly, this session will review side effect profiles for some of the most common psychotropic medications, including emergencies that can arise with administering these pharmacologic agents.
